From Caveman to Fix-It Alex – Discovering What Really Helps Me

I'm continuing my personal reality audit using artificial intelligence to better understand my circumstances and improve my everyday life.

Today, I made an important distinction about an activity I've been doing for months.

Day 197 of Going Outside

For approximately 197 days, I've been regularly going outdoors using my bicycle.

Until now, I was describing this activity primarily as cycling.

But today I realized something.

Cycling is not necessarily the activity I'm trying to maintain. Going outside is.

My bicycle is a tool that allows me to reach places where I feel comfortable.

This changes how I want to document my progress.

Instead of counting bicycle rides, I want to count the days I go outside.

Movement and Environment

During these months, I've explored different areas of Tbilisi.

I particularly enjoy places around Vake Park and Turtle Lake.

As I travel toward these environments, I often notice that my body gradually relaxes.

I've started asking myself why.

Is it because of the physical movement?

Is it because of the natural surroundings, the atmosphere, or the feeling of arriving somewhere comfortable?

Could several factors work together?

I don't know the exact answer yet.

And that's important.

Experiencing something doesn't automatically mean I understand what causes it.

My goal is to separate what I actually observe from the explanations I imagine.

Understanding the Difference Between a Tool and a Goal

The realization about cycling gave me a broader lesson.

Sometimes we focus on an activity without clearly understanding what we want to achieve through it.

For me, the bicycle helps me reach environments where I feel better.

The bicycle is the tool.

Going outside and improving my daily functioning are the goals.

This distinction can change how I organize my habits and measure progress.

Looking at My Past and Present

I also continued examining how my experiences have changed over time.

I recalled a demanding period of travel from years ago and considered how prolonged stress, activity, and recovery might relate to my everyday functioning.

I don't have enough evidence to establish a direct cause-and-effect relationship.

I want to avoid building explanations based only on memories or assumptions.

Instead, I'm trying to understand what I can observe and improve today.

What AI Helped Me Do

ChatGPT helped me organize my observations and distinguish several things:

  • What I experienced.
  • What I remember from the past.
  • What I think might explain those experiences.
  • What remains uncertain.
  • Which practical habits appear helpful.

It also helped me recognize that identifying a possible explanation is not the same as confirming one.

My Current Decision

I will continue going outside regularly.

I will continue using my bicycle when it is the most convenient way to reach the places I want to visit.

And I will gradually examine the relationship between movement, surroundings, physical energy, and everyday well-being.

I'm not trying to prove a theory.

I'm trying to understand my actual life.

What's Next

My reality audit is still in its second stage: Physical Condition.

I will continue examining nutrition, strength, flexibility, endurance, recovery, and the practical conditions that affect my ability to function.

After that, I will continue examining my financial reality, capabilities, relationships, and the wider environment in which I live.

My objective remains the same:

Understand reality. Identify problems. Make changes. Observe the results.
